WIDOWS HUG RUN

About Us

My mother, Bertha Chase, has had a heart for the widows in our community for a long time. She came to me in January of 2011 and said she wanted to do something for them. Unbeknownst to my mother, I had been seeking God for what He wanted me to do with this new season of my life; as I am nearing my sixties. Then, In May of 2011, after a lot of praying about what to do,  the Lord reminded me what my mom had said concerning doing something for widows back in January.

I went to my husband, Tony, and asked him what he thought of hosting a luncheon for widows. He responded, “Sure”. I called my mom and told her, Tony and I would like to host a luncheon. She screamed with joy, hung up, and before I knew it, she called back with 42 names and addresses. We set a date for June 18, 2011.

The day before the luncheon I was busy with last minute details and setting up when  the Lord spoke to my heart, “So, if you have one luncheon are you done?” That question hit me hard. I went to Tony again and asked him, “What would you think about having the luncheons every other month?” He replied, “Ok”. I called my mother and told her what we wanted to do. She screamed once again, and that is when this widow's ministry officially began.

And to the widows, I am so blessed to have you all in my life. You have changed my life in more ways than you will ever know. It is hard to remember a time before you came into my life and my heart was dedicated to this ministry. I am proud, honored and humbled to be a part of your lives and to ensure your hearts are filled with happiness and joy. I thank God every day for this opportunity to serve Him through this ministry and can't wait to  see what He has in store for us.
